In 1942, using his
great professional experience, Sebastian García Alcaraz created
his own tannery together with other family members. They were very difficult
years, but with hard work and dedication they overcame their problems
and gradually achieved their goals. The history of the firm has been
marked from the outset by continuous development both in technology
and in the company premises. They began with artisan manufacturing,
using vegetable tanning techniques and horse hides for the manufacture
of riding equipment. At the end of the 50's, they started using bovine
hides and chrome tanning techniques to supply the footwear industry.
The company premises expanded in order to accommodate the continuous
arrival of new machinery and subsequent increase in output. In 1970
a new factory was opened in which, with successive extensions, the company
remains today. The company's shareholders also changed over the years
and the firm had several names until it changed to Sebastian García
e Hijos, S.A. in 1974.
